Bailey Cadamarteri has spoken out about how the ‘fame’ has impacted him since making his breakthrough at Sheffield Wednesday.
Bailey Cadamarteri joined Sheffield Wednesday’s academy and was relatively unknown prior to making his senior debut in October 2022 – despite being linked with a move to the Premier League and being the son of Danny Cadamarteri.
It wasn’t until a year after he made his debut that he got his big chance in the first team though, with Danny Rohl promoting him to the senior ranks following his appointment at the club.
Cadamarteri made his Championship debut in November, before he was handed his first start three weeks later.
The striker netted his first goal against Blackburn Rovers, before making it three in four games.
Cadamarteri has now become a regular for Sheffield Wednesday, despite still being 18 years old.
The teenager has become a popular figure for The Owls, and has admitted he gets a ‘buzz’ when fans approach him.
Speaking to Joe Crann of The Star, Cadamarteri said: “I’m at the early stages of my career so I don’t mind. You get a bit of a buzz from people coming up to you and being like ‘can I get a picture?’ and ‘will you sign this for me?’
“It’s eye-opening to the stage where you want to get to, where you’re not going to be able to go to the shop and you’ll have to order everything in. It’s eye opening, but it’s good, I like it.”
Can Sheffield Wednesday rely on Cadamarteri?
Bailey Cadamarteri clearly has a clever head on his shoulders and is doing well to handle this sudden breakthrough at such an early age.
There is a lot of pressure on the forward to score goals in what is an extremely intense campaign for the club, but hopefully the recent arrival of Ike Ugbo will help him relax a little.
Danny Rohl will know that he can’t rely on Cadamarteri to do all the hard work, especially when it gets towards the gritty end of the season.
