Ian Poveda has once again taken to Instagram to share hilarious post following Sheffield Wednesday’s win over Plymouth Argyle.
Ian Poveda had only started one game in the Championship prior to his move to Hillsborough, but he has since played a huge role in Sheffield Wednesday’s five wins in their last six games.
The winger has been ‘excellent’ since joining the Owls on loan and came close to netting his first goal last night.
Poveda had his opener chalked off for offside in the first half, though the decision was later slammed.
Thankfully, Djeidi Gassama went onto tuck away the winner on the hour mark, gifting the hosts a vital three points and putting them level on points with 20th place.
Poveda has become known for his funny captions after each win. After the victory over Millwall, the Colombian wrote ‘easy to tame Lions’, the Bristol City game was followed by ‘Hunting down Robins’ and a derby day win over Rotherham was accompanied by a caption that read ‘Rugby union fc boxed off’.
After another quality display against Plymouth last night, Poveda wrote: “Crashed the boat”. As well as a number of photos of himself, he added a screenshot from the Tom Hanks’ film Captain Phillips, with the Somali pirate that says: “Look at me. I’m the captain now.”
He didn’t stop there either, posting a video of the film clip on his Instagram story too.
The 24-year-old’s original post was then flooded with comments in support, and also laughing along to his post.
Arsenal youngster Charlie Patino wrote: “These captions 😂”, while Djeidi Gassama also found the funny said and wrote: “This guy 🤣🤣🔥”. Ike Ugbo added: “El Capitano!😂🫡”.
Former Leeds United striker Jean Kevin Augustin commented: “😍😍😍”, while Yannick Bolasie sent a fire emoji.
The resurgence of Ian Poveda
It was another solid performance from Ian Poveda, who really deserves his first goal for the club by now.
The winger made 50 touches and 16 accurate passes, created one big chance, had three shots, completed three successful dribbles and was fouled four times.
Poveda adds so much creativity and trickery that Sheffield Wednesday have been lacking all season, while he is one part of the perfect combination of January transfers alongside Ike Ugbo.
The two will play a big part in the Owls’ potential survival this term, and what makes it even better is that he seems to love it here.
The Instagram posts are a bit of a laugh and it is great to see all his teammates supporting him in the comments, it shows just how close this group has become and how it is really reflecting onto the pitch.
