Sheffield Wednesday legend Chris Waddle could now get the chance to sign for Northern Counties East Premier Division outfit Hallam. The player is set to make an emotional return to football 17 years after he left Hillsborough.
The news comes courtesy of Alan Biggs who has been told that Waddle might be getting the boots back out. Hallam currently sit 13th in the NCEL Premier Division and were knocked out of the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Cup by Stocksbridge Park Steels last night.
Waddle can regularly be found at Sandygate watching Hallam. Now, they could be sending him an SOS as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the campaign.

This astonishing claim was made by Biggs on Twitter late last night. The news came after Hallam finished last night’s game playing with 10 men following another glut of injuries were picked up.
Wednesday legend Waddle now looks set to lace the boots up again to help Hallam out. The player who has collected 62 caps for his country last played for the Sheffield-based outfit during the 2013/14 campaign.
Now, the tricky player could soon be lining up for Hallam again. It remains to be seen how quickly this one will move, with Craig Denton’s men due to play Coventry United on home soil in the FA Vase this weekend.
Waddle could sign for Hallam
The NCEL Premier Division outfit prides itself on being a friendly club where the pies are hot and the beers cold. Hallam have a famous slope on their pitch and now Waddle could be strutting his stuff on it once again.
Whilst some clubs pay huge sums out on players in the same division as Hallam, Denton can’t afford the same luxuries. As a result, Waddle looks like an ideal stop-gap until he can get some players out of the treatment room.
Waddle was a man for the big occasion during his playing days. He won Ligue 1 three times and was on the losing team in the 1990/91 Europan Cup Final whilst playing for Marseille.
On Saturday, he could be lining up for Hallam against Coventry United in a big FA Vase game. The club get some of the best attendances in their division and news of Waddle signing will surely see even more people flock to Sandygate.
