Chris Sutton has made his score prediction ahead of Sheffield Wednesday vs Coventry City this week.
Sheffield Wednesday will be sick of the sight of Coventry City after losing to them twice in the last month.
However, The Owls will be hoping they can get third time lucky and claim a win in this Friday’s FA Cup clash.
Danny Rohl‘s side got off to a brilliant start in the competition when they thrashed Cardiff City 4-0 earlier this month and will be eager to keep their run going, despite their full focus being on avoiding relegation.
Chris Sutton isn’t sure Sheffield Wednesday will have what it takes though, having endured back-to-back defeats in the Championship.
Writing for BBC Sport, Sutton said: “These two sides only played each other last Saturday, when Coventry went to Hillsborough and won 2-1.
“Sheffield Wednesday are in big trouble in the Championship relegation zone while Coventry, who lost in the play-off final last season, are in great form and in the top six.
“It might take a replay but I am going to back the Sky Blues to go through.
“1-1 and Coventry to win the replay.”
It would be great for the confidence if Sheffield Wednesday could have a little run in the FA Cup, but Danny Rohl will be well aware that his team can’t become distracted from the task at hand.
Staying in the Championship is the priority at Hillsborough and if that means the team will have to take their eye off the Cup, then so be it.
What happens if Sheffield Wednesday are forced into a replay?
What Sheffield Wednesday really don’t want is a replay against Coventry City, as that just means more fixtures in a short space of time.
The Owls would have to play their replay midweek in February – which is already congested with tough games against the likes of Birmingham City, Leicester and Millwall.
Fans will still be hoping Sheffield Wednesday put on a performance tomorrow though, and a third defeat in a row could really start to affect them mentally.
Danny Rohl’s side enjoyed some great form in December, but dropping points at this stage of the season is bad news. Safety was previously only three points anyway, but defeat to Watford next week could potentially leave them eight points adrift once again.
