Sheffield Wednesday remain without a win since September after a 1-0 defeat to Millwall as the club’s crisis spills out onto the pitch.
In truth, last night was a very positive performance from Henrik Pedersen’s team, and it was a massive improvement on their drab derby-day fiasco against Sheffield United.
Barry Bannan went close twice in the first half, and the Owls were perhaps unfortunate not to find a way beyond the Lions during a 90-minute display that showcased a lot of heart.
At full-time, the Wednesday players once again looked gutted after another defeat, especially given that the Owls had a number of good chances to get back into the match.
Max Lowe was superb vs Millwall
When fit, Lowe is typically a consistent performer in the blue and white of Wednesday.
Signing from Sheffield United was never going to make life easy for him when it came to winning over the fan base, but he’s done that with aplomb.
Lowe has made 18 appearances for the Owls this season, picking up where he left off last season with some strong form that has seen him nail down a regular spot.
At 28, Lowe is one of the more experienced performers in the Wednesday dressing room, and his influence on the team shouldn’t go unrecognised.
Max Lowe stats vs Millwall
This season, Pedersen has utilised Lowe on the left of a three-man central defensive unit, and he’s not been fazed by needing to fulfil a job in an unnatural position.
Lowe is a very useful addition to the Wednesday ranks and against Millwall, he showcased to Pederesen just how important it is that he stays fit.

With some big games coming up and Wednesday looking to try and win a few games to stop the rot and put a little bit of respect onto the league table, they will need all the experience they can get.
Lowe will be a big player in the leadership group at Hillsborough and the hope will be that he can keep producing performances of this nature in the future.
