Sheffield Wednesday slipped to another defeat in the Championship as Millwall eventually broke down a largely resolute Owls team on the night.
Henrik Pedersen will be relatively pleased by what he witnessed from his team in South London, but once again, it proved a fruitless trip to the capital for Wednesday.
The game was settled in the 71st minute when Femi Azeez headed beyond Ethan Horvath to finally break some resolute defending from the Owls.
This Wednesday defeat certainly wasn’t down to a lack of commitment to the cause or desire from the players, but it is another loss, and for the confidence in the dressing room, it’s another blow.
After the game on Wednesday night, we looked at the Wednesday players and scored their performances out of 10.
Sheffield Wednesday player ratings vs Millwall
Ethan Horvath – 7
Made a wonderful double save in the first half and several good stops in the second, but his distribution once again left a lot to be desired. He was very hesitant to come off his line for the game’s opening goal in the 70th minute.
Dominic Iorfa – 6
Was shown a yellow card just before the interval, but in large defended solidly throughout the contest and managed a number of important interventions.
Liam Cooper – 7
Brings a composed personna to the defensive unit and but for one awkward moment in the second half, this was a very encouraging performance.
Max Lowe – 5
Played alright once again, but it’s fair to say that he’s just not a centre-back. Playing in a three-man defence just doesn’t suit his qualities, which involve getting forward to aid attacks.
Sean Fusire – 4
Struggled massively with the trickery of Aidomo Emakhu and was fortunate not to give away a penalty in the first half. Stayed true to his task and is learning all the time, though.
Harry Amass – 7
Stood up well to the physical presence of Tristan Crama, with the 6ft 4 performer coming up against a dogged youngster. Amass looks like a huge talent.
Yan Valery – 5
Carried the ball out of the defensive third well at times, but did get caught in possession perhaps too frequently at times when Wednesday were looking to calm things down.
Barry Bannan – 6
Leads by example every single game and nearly scored just before half-time with an outrageous attempt to lob the goalkeeper from near the halfway line.

Charlie McNeill – 6
Looks to be a very promising talent for Wednesday and was desperately unlucky to see his powerful effort bounce off the bar in the first half.
Svante Ingelsson – 6
Couldn’t get hold of the ball in the first half and was very wasteful in possession. Looked a little bit leggy throughout the contest.
Bailey Cadamarteri – 5
Pretty unanimous, but in fairness to Cadamarteri, he was feeding on scraps throughout this outing and did have a chance to score in the opening 45 minutes.
Substitutes
Jamal Lowe – 6
Curled an effort wide just after coming on but had very little time to make an impact.
Liam Palmer – N/A
