Danny Rohl has explained why Bailey Cadamarteri was substituted at half-time during Sheffield Wednesday’s win over Hull City.
Bailey Cadamarteri has lit the Championship up since he was brought into the first-team picture back in November.
The striker made only two cameos before he was thrown into the starting line-up for The Owls’ clash with Leicester City – and he hasn’t looked back since.
Cadamarteri has started every game in the Championship since the draw with Leicester, and has now scored three goals and also picked up an assist.
The youngster has been pivotal to Sheffield Wednesday’s recent upturn of results, but fans were left concerned when he was replaced by Ashley Fletcher at half-time against The Tigers.
However, Danny Rohl has now explained the decision and has assured supporters that he is ‘OK’.
Speaking to The Star, the German said: “Yeah, he is OK for sure.
“He is one of the players who was a little bit 50/50 as to if he was available or not. It’s obviously a risk and you think about a new injury again, but you know our squad at the moment. That is the reason he came off.

“Fletch came on and did such a good job in front. His job was to stay between the two centre-backs and to pin them on the last line. From there we could play around him. He worked hard and he deserved those minutes.”
Do Sheffield Wednesday still need another striker?
While Bailey Cadamarteri is fine and Sheffield Wednesday went onto score all three goals following his substitution, the concern when Ashley Fletcher was brought on does show how light the team are up top.
A serious injury to Cadamarteri could spell disaster for Danny Rohl’s side, with the likes of Michael Smith and Mallik Wilks struggling with injuries this term.
Sheffield Wednesday’s strikers have scored seven goals between them this season – with Cadamarteri scoring three of them.
Previous reports claimed that Dejphon Chansiri was prepared to spend big on a new striker in January, and Cadamarteri’s form probably shouldn’t distract from that.
The club still need a proven goalscorer to help them out, as they can’t rely on the 18-year-old – especially when it comes down to the nitty gritty at the end of the campaign.
Sheffield Wednesday’s results have definitely improved, but hopefully we can see their squad improve before the end of the month too.
