Ike Ugbo was once again the hero for Sheffield Wednesday as they beat Rotherham United 1-0 in the Championship this afternoon.
Sheffield Wednesday headed to Rotherham United today, looking to maintain their positive run of form in the Championship.
Before today, the Owls had won three of their last four, with the last being a 2-1 win at home to Bristol City last weekend.
Many expected Danny Rohl‘s side to pick up another win this afternoon against a Rotherham United side who’d won just one league fixture since October.
And the first half was all Wednesday.
The Owls were unlucky to be going into half-time on level terms after Akin Famewo’s headed goal was controversially ruled out for offside.
Sheffield Wednesday started the second half quickly and eventually found a way through, with Ugbo scoring his sixth goal in eight Championship games for the Owls.

Dom Howson in awe of ‘superb’ Ike Ugbo
Ugbo has certainly won over the hearts of Sheffield Wednesday fans.
He’s firing the Owls towards Championship safety with his rather surprising goals return for the club, which sees him already ranking in the club’s all-time top 10 for goals-per-game.
The Canadian international finished off a neat team move with a typical poacher’s finish inside the box today, with the goal catching the eye of journalist Dom Howson.

Cult hero Ugbo can be Sheffield Wednesday’s saviour
If Sheffield Wednesday stay up this season, it’ll be because of a huge team effort.
Rohl will obviously take a lot of plaudits, and Ugbo too, though it’ll be an all-round effort.
But it’s hard to argue the fact that Ugbo is really having a big influence on Wednesday’s season; he’s only been with the club for a month-and-a-half, but he’s quickly settled into the system and Rohl has found a way of getting him firing.

Now with Ugbo brimming with confidence and looking dangerous whenever he’s on the ball inside the opposition box, Sheffield Wednesday have an improved chance of staying up.
He’s proving to be the missing piece for Wednesday this season; the Owls have had good build up play since before Ugbo arrived, but now they have someone to convert play into goals.
Up next for Sheffield Wednesday is a home game vs Plymouth Argyle next weekend.
