Sheffield United came out on top in the Steel City derby, but Sheffield Wednesday fans have another reason to be unhappy after the game, and it’s all down to how Chris Wilder reacted to the result.
Both sets of fans have had to wait more than five years to see Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United go head-to-head, and though scrappy, the latest derby clash did not disappoint from an entertainment perspective.
In the end, one goal was all that separated the two teams in a heated game at Bramall Lane. With a spirited display from the Owls, it’s easy to see why Sheffield Wednesday fans were happy with their players at full-time.
However, one thing they are not happy with is Chris Wilder, who may have taken his celebrations a little too far after the game.

Chris Wilder shows disrespect to Danny Rohl
As a Sheffield local and a hardened Blades fan, it’s not surprising that Wilder was delighted with the win in the Steel City derby.
But, footage has emerged on X allegedly showing the United boss standing up on his seat in a crowded bar, leading a chorus of a twist on Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl chant, with lyrics changed to “Sausage, Sausage Rohl.”
The replies to the video have, predictably, been full of Owls fans who are angry at the lack of respect and class Wilder has shown.
One Wednesday fan wrote: “I’ll sleep safe tonight in the absolute confidence that, had Sheffield Wednesday won today, there would be no footage of a p***ed up Danny Rohl singing about Wilder… you can’t buy class with Premier League parachute payments lads.”
Another recalled Wilder’s pre-match press comments about Rohl, and asked, “What happened to him saying that he had ‘huge respect for Danny’?” Meanwhile, one Owls fan made the bold claim that Wilder will “never be half the manager Danny becomes.”
Wednesday fans appear to be confident in the fact that Rohl would never do such a thing. One wrote: “I’m so glad that our manager has class,” while another described Wilder as “embarrassing.”
The idea of celebrations going too far is a common debate among football fans these days, and a Sheffield Wednesday fan certainly thinks Wilder is getting too excited. They said: “So over the top, Championship manager singing about another Championship manager, classless as always.”

Danny Rohl has time to get his own back
This experience of the Steel City derby was Rohl’s first taste of such a situation, and he will no doubt have learned a lot from what happened on and off the pitch. It was a close game, decided by the finest of margins, and on another day it could easily have been a better result for Wednesday.
It’s understandable that Wilder will be happy with his win, but the United boss should remember that there is a long way to go this season and that he still needs to take his team to Hillsborough in March of next year.
By that point, Rohl will have another six months of experience under his belt and will be far more aware of what United are all about.
If his Wednesday players can fix their defensive issues and get a little more confidence in front of goal, it could be Rohl dancing and singing next time.
