Sheffield Wednesday were thumped 4-0 away at Huddersfield Town in the Championship today.
Sheffield Wednesday headed to Huddersfield Town for a crunch match in the Championship this afternoon.
The Owls started the day in 23rd and Town in 21st, in their first game after sacking former Wednesday boss Darren Moore.
And first 45 proved to be as cagey as many thought it would be; there was very little to split the two but once again, like vs Watford in midweek, Sheffield Wednesday had more of the ball and passed it around nicely, but lacked that end product.
But the second half was a horror show for Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls conceded four, with one individual error after another leading to goal after goal for Town who now pull eight clear of Sheffield Wednesday, with QPR also picking up three points to further cement Wednesday in 23rd.
And today also marked Kristian Pedersen’s debut for the club after sealing a deadline day loan from Swansea City, but it wasn’t an easy debut at all.
Dom Howson critical of Kristian Pedersen on Sheffield Wednesday debut
Pedersen started at left-back with Marvin Johnson not in the team at all.
And it proved to be a debut to forget for the Dane; his lack of match fitness or at least match practise was evident, with Pedersen looking fatigued early on and also looking a bit clumsy on the ball, giving the ball away for the third goal.
Journalist Dom Howson rated Pedersen’s performance on X during the game, posting:
Deadline day quickly dies down for Danny Rohl
Deadline day was tough for Danny Rohl. But in the end he pulled off a couple of good signings in Pedersen and Ian Poveda.
Whilst we’re yet to properly see Poveda in action, we saw plenty of Pedersen today and there’s a lot to be desired.
He’s obviously an experienced pro who knows the Championship very well, but like Howson says, it just seems like he’s lacking a bit of match fitness.
Rohl may be inclined to keep Pedersen in the Sheffield Wednesday XI despite a tough debut so that he can gain that match fitness.

But with the Owls still in such a desperate league position, Rohl can’t really afford any poor individual performances in the team.
Johnson may have missed out through injury today and he’ll no doubt return to the XI when available. Pedersen though offers a more defensive outlet on that side and there might be games here his traits are preferred.
Rohl will just be hoping that Pedersen can improve on today’s performance vs Huddersfield Town.
