Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting to the news that Danny Rohl has been nominated for the Championship Manager of the Month award.
Danny Rohl had a lot of work to do when he replaced Xisco Munoz in October, with Sheffield Wednesday sat seven points from safety at the bottom of the Championship.
The German coach earned his first win only three games in, but The Owls eventually found themselves 12 points adrift at the bottom of the table.
While December is expected to be the busiest and the most stressful month in the football calendar, Sheffield Wednesday didn’t really want it to end.
Rohl’s side a staggering seven games in four weeks, picking up 12 points from a possible 21.
Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed victories over Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City, QPR and Preston North End, while they were beaten by Coventry, Cardiff and Norwich.
Their form in December massively exceeded expectations at what appeared to previously be a doomed club, with their final win of 2023 taking them to six points from safety.
The Owls went onto win their opening game of 2024 and are now only a win away from climbing out of the relegation zone, but it is December’s results that have resulted in Danny Rohl nomination for Manager of the Month.
The 34-year-old is up against Enzo Maresca (Leicester), Russell Martin (Southampton) and Mark Robins (Coventry), with the winner set to be announced tomorrow.
