Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media have been reacting to the Sheffield Star’s update on Celtic’s interest in Liam Shaw.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to the Glasgow outfit, and the Star say that there is certainly a very real interest from north of the border.
The teenager is out of contract this summer, so he would be able to move on a free if he likes, and with Celtic not being an English club, they would only have to pay a minimal compensation fee.
It would be painful to lose Shaw so soon after he’s burst onto the scene and made himself a mainstay in the Owls’ squad, but sadly this is nothing new for the Yorkshire outfit.
Rather poignantly, one Wednesday fan compared this situation to George Hirst’s, a player who left the Owls back in 2018 under similar circumstances, and as much as we’d hate to see that all play out again, it seems as though it could.
Understandably, fans online weren’t best pleased with this news, and they took to Twitter to make their voices heard…

If we let a good young prospect leave like this the clubs is utterly utterly sickening https://t.co/dDC99CONZK
