Sheffield Wednesday earned a deserved point against league leaders Leicester City last night.
Sheffield Wednesday went into what promised to be their toughest game of the season yesterday evening, with title-favourites Leicester City visiting Hillsborough.
But in typical Wednesday fashion, the Owls nicked a point, and right at the death too.
Jeff Hendrick came off the bench and poked home a late equaliser to hand Danny Rohl‘s side a well-deserved point in the end; just the fourth of Rohl’s tenure so far.
Bailey Cadamarteri made his first league start for the club and he impressed, and he’ll likely steal most of the headlines for Sheffield Wednesday.
But Callum Paterson once again ran his socks off, providing the assist for Hendrick as well with a composed header.

Paterson hasn’t had the best of seasons so far.
Once again he’s had to fill in different roles under both Xisco Munoz and now Rohl, but the Scot will always put in a shift.
And he did so again tonight, also showcasing his composure at the end with what Joe Crann described as a ‘brilliant’ cushioned header to set up Hendrick for the equaliser.
What the stats say
The stats paint a busy picture for Paterson.
He was everywhere tonight having started in a more attacking position, attempting more duels than any other Wednesday player (15, winning 7), as per Sofascore.
Paterson dominated in the air too, attempting more aerial duels than anyone (7, winning 3).
On top of that, Paterson made more key passes (3) than anyone on the pitch, and it was a pitch dotted with attacking talent, so for Paterson it was certainly a memorable performance.
The 29-year-old isn’t a typical attacking player; he’s not always an attacking player either, and he doesn’t boast that flair or skillset that would often get a crowd off its feet.
But on top of his always impressive work-rate, Paterson has often cropped with important moments in big games like tonight, and that’s why he’s held in high regards among the Wednesday faithful.
On the whole, it was a very commendable team performance for Sheffield Wednesday, and more of the same would give them a fighting chance of Championship survival this season.
Up next for Rohl and his side is a home game vs Blackburn Rovers on Saturday; the Owls remain well adrift at the bottom of the table but after tonight’s result, Blackburn will surely be wary of a trip to Hillsborough this weekend.
