Sheffield Wednesday are set to make multiple new signings before the end of the week.

After bringing in five new players, James Beadle and Olaf Kobacki are set to battle it out to see who can join Sheffield Wednesday first.

The pair are move expected to seal moves to Hillsborough in the coming days, with Kabacki set to bolster an attack that has already been boosted by the arrival of Jamal Lowe.

The 22-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract in Poland, but the Owls are set to splash the cash on bringing him to the Championship.

Olaf Kobacki career so far

As a child, Kobacki joined the academy of Polish side Lech Poznan, before going onto move to Italy with Atalanta at 16 years old.

The forward spent five years with the Serie A club and rose up through the ranks, netting 15 goals and providing five assists in 52 appearances for their youth sides.

However, he never managed to make it into the senior team and was instead sent back to Poland on loan with Arka Gdynia.

Kobacki scored six times in his first season in Gdynia, before joining the club permanently in 2022.

The attacker then joined Miedz Legnica on loan and bagged five goal contributions, before returning to Gdynia this season.

Kobacki has lit up the Polish second division this time round, scoring 15 goals in only 34 matches.

The 22-year-old has five caps for Poland U20s but hasn’t featured in international football since 2022 and is yet to earn a call-up to the senior squad.

Reported interest in Kobacki

Wednesday look set to win the race for Kobacki, with The Star reporting that he is booked in for a medical at Middlewood Road.

However, the Owls weren’t the only club chasing the winger.

According to Interia Sport, Norwich City and Derby County both made bids to sign Kobacki in recent weeks, with his departure a ‘foregone conclusion’.

Despite their attempts, they look set to miss out on the attacker as he has been convinced to link up with Danny Rohl – even after Norwich reached the play-offs.

Kobacki to Sheffield Wednesday analysis

Kobacki looks like his arriving in Yorkshire with a few to add goals and creativity to Wednesday’s squad.

The Pole has played a majority of his career from the left wing and has bagged 24 goal contributions from there, but he has also played all across the attack and also in midfield.

Kobacki will bring versatility and excitement to a squad struggling in attack, though he may take a while to settle in after making the jump from the second division in his home country.

With the likes of Lowe, Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama also in the squad, the 22-year-old could begin his spell in the Championship from the bench as he gels with the team and settles in.
