Pol Valentin has emerged as a transfer target for Sheffield Wednesday this summer.
As reported by La Nueva Espana, new Sheffield Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz wants to bring Pol Valentin to Hillsborough Stadium in this transfer window.
Valentin currently turns out for Sporting Gijon, in the second tier of Spanish football. The 26-year-old right-back first came through the youth systems of Figueres and Gimnastic, before going on to eventually feature for both clubs at senior level. He also spent a brief spell with Valencia B, and now finds himself with Sporting Gijon in the Segunda Division.
Munoz will know all about Valentin and his qualities, having managed in the Segunda Division himself, whilst in charge of Huesca for the 2021/22 season.
Wednesday need new faces
Sheffield Wednesday need new arrivals, as they prepare for their return to the Championship. It has been a very slow start to the window for the Owls, and the Spanish coach has already stated that his patience is being tested.
Munoz’s squad lacks depth at present, and Valentin would offer some quality to their rearguard, and also bring with him plenty of experience, whilst still having what ought to be his prime years ahead of him.
Fans will be interested to see the impact Valentin can have, if the club are able to get a deal over the line. A deal for the Spaniard should very much be within reach for Wednesday, too, especially given the financial disparity between Championship and Segunda Division clubs. The Owls must surely have the financial muscle to prise their man out of Gijon.
