Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has apparently arrived at Sheffield Wednesday’s Middlewood training ground to undergo his medical, reports journalist Joel Bland.

Hayden, 28, has been linked with a late loan exit from Newcastle United, after seeing a loan move to Premier League Luton Town fall through this week.

And Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a loan move for the experienced midfielder, who now seems to be closing in on a loan move to Hillsborough ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Last night, North Eastern reporter Bland revealed that Hayden had arrived at the Owls’ Middlewood training facility to undergo his medical.

Bland tweeted:

Should Hayden arrive, he’d become the Owls’ 11th signing of the summer so far, with one or two more looking like they could join Xisco Munoz’s side before tonight’s deadline.

Hayden heading for his Wednesday medical

Hayden looks like a very good capture for Sheffield Wednesday; the sort of signing that they should’ve been making all summer.

He’s got experience of the English game and of playing in both the Premier League and the Championship, so he should have no issue in adapting to the rigours of the second tier.

The only issue may be his fitness. He spent the bulk of last season on the sidelines and he’s yet to feature this season, so getting him fit and then keeping him fit could be the main task for Munoz.

But overall, this looks like a very good signing for the Owls, and one that looks to be in its final stages too.
