Sheffield Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz says that the club are in contact with potential transfer targets, as the summer transfer window nears its end.

Sheffield Wednesday have signed 10 new players this summer. But there looks set to be some more arriving at Hillsborough before the September 1st transfer deadline with Munoz revealing that the club are in talks with potential targets.

Speaking to the press ahead of this weekend’s Championship clash against Cardiff City, Munoz said on the possibility of new signigns arriving before tomorrow:

“What I know in this moment is we are in contact with them [potential targets]. We are close, but you never know what happens. Maybe now I say to you it’s close and after 10 minutes it’s broke, the situation… Always we are close with some players… Everybody in the club is working very hard to find the fanbase the solutions, as we will see arrive before or after the weekend.”

Sheffield Wednesday are said to be eyeing up some cover in the left-back area this summer, though other positions look like they need bolstering too; mainly up front with Wednesday still perhaps lacking some energy and power in the no.9 position.

Close, but how close?

Wednesday have done well to get in as many bodies as they have this summer, though whether or not they’ve signed enough quality will become more apparent as the season goes on.

Given their start to the season, many will say that Munoz still needs to add some star quality to his ranks, but the Owls are showing signs of improvement and so there’s hope that they’ve done enough this summer.

But given Munoz’s comments, it does look like Wednesday are working on some more new signings and that’ll exciting fans ahead of what is another tough outing at Cardiff City this weekend; although this one may be Wednesday’s most potentially winnable fixture of the season so far.

Kick off is at 3pm tomorrow.
