Sheffield Wednesday are facing a pivotal week ahead, as the Owls struggle to get ahead in the January transfer market.
Sheffield Wednesday still have just two signings to their name as the January transfer window reaches its climax.
The Owls have missed out on a growing number of transfer targets with Myles Peart-Harris and Mike Biereth the latest to join the list of linked players who’ve moved elsewhere.
And there appears to be a number of player exits still to facilitate, making for a potentially chaotic end to January for Danny Rohl and his side.

Marvin Johnson latest
Sheffield Wednesday left-back Marvin Johnson remains the subject of interest from Ipswich Town.
The Tractor Boys were reported to have seen a £1million bid rejected last week, and it was said that they’d return with an improved offer.
It appears that they are yet to do so. But Rohl has given his verdict on Johnson, failing to rule out an exit for the in form 33-year-old:
“In the transfer window anything is possible in both directions. What is clear is that he is a starter at the moment, he has a lot of running forward, he has made improvements in defence and he is a good left full-back for us and he is helpful. In the end some decisions are on the other table, not my table.”
Derby County lodge loan offer for Michael Smith
Derby County have been linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday outcast Michael Smith all month.
And a recent report from BBC Sport revealed that the Rams have now lodged a loan bid for the 32-year-old, but that the Owls are commanding a significant loan fee for the player.
Smith has featured just seven times since Rohl’s arrival in October and is wanted by Paul Warne whom he previously worked under at Rotherham United.
Rohl set for crunch talks with Dejphon Chansiri
It’s been revealed that Sheffield Wednesday’s controversial owner Dejphon Chansiri is back in the country to help facilitate some transfer business, and that he was also in attendance at the game vs Coventry City last weekend.
Speaking to The Star, Rohl revealed that he and Chansiri have been in regular contact and that the pair are hoping to conclude some transfer business in the final week of the January window.
He said:
“For sure. But we’re still in contact, it doesn’t matter if he’s here or not here – I think it makes no difference. But yeah, we’ll try – it’s like on the pitch, you always try as a team to do something.
“Hopefully we will get to the end all that we want, but the transfer market is not easy in January. It goes quickly in one direction and then in a second direction. I will try it with the club, and hopefully by the first of February we will have the result that we want.”
Myles Peart-Harris completes Portsmouth loan move
As mentioned above, Brentford attacker Peart-Harris has sealed a loan move to League One hopefuls Portsmouth for the remainder of the campaign.
Sheffield Wednesday were among the teams linked with a move for the ex-Chelsea talent; the Owls have also missed out on Arsenal striker Biereth who’s joined Austrian outfit Sturm Graz on loan.
Sheffield Wednesday return to action against Coventry City on Friday night in an FA Cup fourth round clash at Hillsborough.
