Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing up potential summer signings, despite not knowing what league they’ll be playing in.
Sheffield Wednesday now sit in 22nd place of the Championship table after a 2-2 draw vs Norwich City on Tuesday.
It makes a change for the Owls who’ve spent most of the campaign in 23rd.
It comes after a spirited second half performance against the Canaries, inspired by Danny Rohl and his half-time changes.
Callum Paterson was a standout player, and he’s also one of the few who’s under contract at Hillsborough beyond this summer.
Sheffield Wednesday turning attention to youth
Ahead of what feels like a summer exodus in the first-team, regardless of what division Wednesday find themselves in next season, there’s been a clear focus on youth.
Sheffield Wednesday are pondering over professional deals for a umber of their young stars, including Favour Onukwuli and Jarvis Thornton, with the Owls also hoping to extend Joey Phuthi’s stay.
It suggests that the club are looking towards a more sustainable future and a much lighter wage bill next season.
Another name on the Owls’ radar is James Collins.

Collins, 19, made his name on the non-league before joining Watford in January 2023.
But he’s failed to make a breakthrough at Vicarage Road, having since headed to South Yorkshire to undergo a trial period with Sheffield Wednesday.
It was revealed last month that Collins was featuring for the Owls’ impressive development team, with The Star now revealing that Wednesday are taking an extended look at the Englishman.
Collins featured in a recent 2-0 win over Bristol City in the Professional Development League.

Collins looks eager to make his breakthgouh in senior football.
He looks set to leave Watford this summer and he’s wasting no time in trying to secure himself a deal with Wednesday.
And the fact that he’s still on trial suggests that Sheffield Wednesday are certainly weighing up a potential move ahead of the summer.
Collins then could be heading to S6, and he’ll no doubt take inspiration from Bailey Cadamarteri should he do so.
Cadamarteri’s emergence in the first-team this season has opened up the club’s academy, with Phuthi and Gui Siqueira following since.
It’s given the club reason to put more faith in their youngsters and it’ll also show players like Collins, who are pondering moves to Wednesday, reason to join the club.
It’s certainly a boost for the long-run, though right now focus remains on beating the drop.
