Sheffield Wednesday’s hunt for new signings is now bringing Monaco winger Anthony Musaba onto the radar.

The Owls have been active in the transfer market of late, landing Juan Delgado, Pol Valentin, Ashley Fletcher and Di’Shon Bernard.

New boss Xisco Munoz still needs more new faces though and Musaba is thought to be a target.

The Sheffield Star report that Musaba is one player Wednesday are keen on signing ahead of the new Championship season.

It’s unclear whether Wednesday will be pushing for a loan or permanent deal for Musaba just yet.

Wednesday need to add a winger this summer and there have been links to free agent Moussa Doumbia.

Musaba is now another option for Wednesday with Monday’s signing of Bernard potentially followed by more new arrivals.

Who is Sheffield Wednesday target Anthony Musaba?

Musaba hails from the Netherlands and started out in the NEC Nijmegen ranks before heading to Vitesse Arnhem.

Musaba returned to NEC in 2018 and ended up becoming a first-team player in Nijmegen.

Nine goals in 31 games for NEC resulted in major interest ahead of the 2020 summer transfer window.

Fussballeck in Germany reported that Monaco, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Marseille, Alaves, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, Ajax and AZ Alkmaar all wanted to sign Musaba.

Monaco ended up winning the race, paying around €2.5million (£2.15million) to bring him to Ligue 1.

Three years on, Musaba has still only played once for Monaco.

The speedy winger has gone out on loan four times now, joining Cercle Brugge, Heerenveen, Metz and NEC.

Musaba hasn’t recaptured his magic on a regular basis though and that means Monaco may be willing to get rid.

Wednesday are ready to offer an escape route with Munoz potentially believing that he can get Musaba back on track.
