Sheffield Wednesday are among a host of clubs trying to complete the signing of Ravel Morrison on a free transfer.

This comes from TEAMtalk who have made the claim earlier today.

So, what is the situation involving Morrison and Wednesday? Let’s take a closer look…

Sheffield Wednesday want to sign Ravel Morrison

Well, this one comes as a bit of a turn-up for the books, with Morrison now on the lookout for a new club to sign for.

According to TEAMtalk, he won’t be short of offers with Wednesday, Bolton and Peterborough all vying for his signature.

Morrison is a free agent after leaving D.C United after Wayne Rooney had given him a short-term deal in the MLS.

The 31-year-old is now on the lookout for a new club to sign for and a return to England might be on the cards.

Wednesday aren’t ruling out a move into the free-agent market and the playmaker is now on the radar it would seem.

Who is Ravel Morrison?

The midfielder has been around the block a little bit and after coming through the Manchester United ranks he’s had a number of clubs.

Morrison was last in England with Derby County during the season they were relegated from the Championship.

He’s also played for – whisper is quietly – Sheffield United. He did, however, only feature four times for the Blades.

Wednesday-linked Morrison has also played for Cardiff, West Ham, Middlesbrough, QPR and Birmingham.

Abroad he’s well versed too, with Lazio, Atlas and Ostersund among the clubs he’s played for.

Wednesday should avoid Morrison signing

In our view, this would be completely pointless and he’d represent a waste of a squad place at Hillsborough.

Wednesday are right to leave no stone unturned in their quest to land new players but they shouldn’t waste wages on anyone.

Morrison hardly set the league alight when he played for Derby during the 2021/22 campaign, scoring four times and claiming four assists in 36 Championship appearances.

Given that he’s played for the Blades during his career, it’s unlikely that this would be a popular signing.

In our view, it would make very little sense for Wednesday to add Morrison and this is one the club must steer clear of.
