Sheffield Wednesday have yet another new name on the January transfer radar.
Sheffield Wednesday seem to be wasting no time in bolstering their ranks this month.
James Beadle has become the first signing of the Danny Rohl era after arriving on loan from Brighton yesterday.
Going the other way though, Tyreeq Bakinson has joined Charlton Athletic on loan whilst John Buckley has returned to parent club Blackburn Rovers.
More player exits seem inevitable but so too does more signings, and the latest name linked with a potential move to Hillsborough is Myles Peart-Harris.
The Star say that the 21-year-old former Chelsea youngster, who currently plays for Brentford, is a ‘possible’ option for Sheffield Wednesday this month.
Myles Peart-Harris can score and assist
Upon signing the young attacking midfielder in 2021, Brentford boss Thomas Frank said of Peart-Harris:
“Myles has great quality on the ball. He can score goals and deliver assists for us. He is great at arriving in the penalty area at the right time. There is also lots of development potential for our coaches to work with. We think there will be lots of areas where he will get better, particularly defensively, but he has some great attributes, and we believe we can maximise his potential.”
Peart-Harris spent time on loan at Forest Green Rovers last season. He featured 40 times in League One, scoring five and assisting three, having since made three Premier League outings for Brentford this season.
Peart-Harris could be just what Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday need
Rohl has quickly settled on a front three, with Bailey Cadamarteri looking like the man to lead the line this season, then Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama alongside him.
The back line often changes, but this front three seems to be settling down, and there’s more often than not a midfield three behind them.
Rohl hasn’t really deployed a no.10 or a no.8 so far this season, perhaps because he doesn’t really have anyone to effectively play in that position.
So bringing in Peart-Harris could give the Owls a whole new strategy going into the second half of the season; Frank has already revealed Peart-Harris’ ability to score goals and create them.
Opposition teams will be paying close attention to Sheffield Wednesday and how they set up and play under Rohl, as they could now give a lot of teams potential headaches.
It could mean that the Owls get figured out by some opponents and so having Peart-Harris in the side can give Rohl a new system to keep teams guessing, or to change the style mid-game.
He could also provide cover in the standard midfield three, which could be vital after the exits of Bakinson and Buckley, with George Byers now looking like another potential departee this month.
This certainly looks like another exciting link.
