Sheffield Wednesday are now hoping to ‘wrap up’ their third signing of the summer in the next few days.
Sheffield Wednesday have been busy in the early stages of the summer window, having previously tied down Danny Rohl, Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer to new contracts.
They then went onto snap up two free agents in Max Lowe and Ben Hamer, with the former joining after four years with their rivals Sheffield United.
Lowe arrives at Hillsborough as competition on the left for Marvin Johnson, while the Owls are now set to sign another defender to challenge for a place on the right.
It was reported earlier this month that Yan Valery had agreed to reunite with Rohl at Wednesday, having worked with him during his spell at Southampton.
The full-back had already agreed personal terms, but Wednesday still faced significant competition across Europe for his signature.

It was then reported that the Yorkshire outfit had agreed a fee with Angers, and now he looks set to join the club later this week.
Journalist Joe Crann wrote on X: “Understand that #SWFC are hoping to wrap up the final details of Yan Valery’s Owls switch before the end of this week as they look to make him their third signing of the summer. As @AlexMiller91 previously reported, club/personal terms agreed.”
The Owls’ transfer business is going in the right direction
Wednesday were impressed with Pol Valentin in the second half of the season, but he still has his weakness and would really benefit from some competition.
Valery picked up four assists last term and could be a real asset for the Owls as he looks to reignite his career in England under Danny Rohl.
The German clearly sees a lot in the 25-year-old, and after the success of his January signings, the head coach can certainly be trusted to bring in some top talent.
It is good to see the club investing in experienced players too, who have already plied their trade in the Premier League or the Championship.
Wednesday signed a number of unknown players such as Juan Delgado and Momo Diaby last summer, which proved to be a risk not worth taking again.
