Sheffield Wednesday have offered West Bromwich Albion a ‘stunning £25,000-a-week loan package’ for Kenneth Zohore, according to The Sun on Sunday (September 27, page 61).
And the newspaper claims that while that amount fails to cover even half of Zohore’s salary, Wednesday ‘hope it will do’ as there have been no better offers.
The 26-year-old was again omitted from the West Brom 18 as the Baggies drew 3-3 with Chelsea on Saturday.
And Slaven Bilic’s side are reported to have their own striker targets, with The Sun on Sunday listing Habib Diallo and M’Baye Niang as two.
Wednesday are lacking a physical presence up front after the departures of Steven Fletcher and Atdhe Nuhiu at the end of last season.
And, while the Owls are close to signing one of Zohore’s former teammates, Callum Paterson, from Cardiff City, according to his manager Neil Harris, his Championship goals-to-games record is not quite as good as the Dane’s – for which West Brom paid around £8 million a year ago.
Paterson is also at home on the right or in the centre of midfield, as well as right wing-back, and may not arrive, primarily, as a centre-forward.
The Scot, who also failed to make his side’s squad on Saturday, is said to be signing a permanent contract at Sheffield Wednesday.
