Sheffield Wednesday have made loan bids for Newcastle United pair Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick, reports The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday have recently been linked with moves for Newcastle United duo Hayden and Hendrick, who’ve both fallen well out of favour at St James’ Park.

And The Star are now reporting that the Owls have lodged official loan bids to bring the pair to Hillsborough before tomorrow’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Joe Crann writes that discussions remain ongoing, but that a deal for either player is not done yet.

Xisco Munoz’s side have so far brought in 10 new players this summer but have started the season very poorly, losing all four of their opening Championship games to find themselves in last place.

With just a day left int his summer’s transfer window, it looks like the Owls are set for a frantic finale.

Wednesday making a go of it

Wednesday have made some mixed signings so far this summer. Their new players may yet prove to be good signings and if they do, fair enough, but Munoz looks like he needs some players with real experience of the English game and Hendrick and Hayden would bring just that.

They’re hugely experienced and proven players. Both have Premier League pedigree and both should be hungry for some first-team football, but whether either of them would fancy the challenge at Wednesday remains to be seen.

If Wednesday can pull off this double deal then it would make for a good end to a turbulent summer.

The Owls return to Championship action this weekend where they face a trip to Elland Road to face Yorkshire rivals Leeds United, in what will no doubt be a tough game.
