A rumoured Sheffield Wednesday target will decide this week which Championship club he will join on loan, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Wednesday have been linked with a move for the Manchester United midfielder James Garner throughout the summer transfer window, and had their interest confirmed by the Yorkshire Live journalist Dom Howson last month.

But the MEN‘s report contains no mention of the Owls.

The newspaper lists Blackburn Rovers, Millwall and Coventry City as Garner suitors, and claims he has already held talks with Carlos Corberan about a move to Huddersfield Town.

Wednesday have already strengthened their midfield options through the summer additions of Izzy Brown and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, although Garner – a deep-lying playmaker who boasts a good range of passing and a keen eye for goal – could have been a useful addition to Garry Monk’s side.

The 19-year-old has played seven times for the Manchester United first team, but is likely to find his opportunities limited after the recent arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax.
