Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath says that Newcastle United midfielder Jeff Hendrick is currently at Sheffield Wednesday ahead of a deadline day move to Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday look set to get their first deadline day arrival over the line, with experienced midfielder Hendrick set to arrive at the club.
It’s been a hectic day for the Owls who looked to be closer to signing Hendrick’s Newcastle teammate Isaac Hayden, though he now has other suitors in for him ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.
McGrath though says that Hendrick is at Sheffield Wednesday ahead of a potential move to the club; seemingly a loan move, which was previously touted when Hendrick was linked with a move to Wednesday.
Hendrick shone on loan at Reading last season, featuring in all but one of their 46 Championship games and earning high praise from boss Paul Ince, who labelled him as ‘influential’.

Hendrick set to arrive at Hillsborough
Wednesday desperately needed something today, anything, and in Hendrick it looks like the Owls are about to bring in a vastly experienced and proven Championship player.
Hendrick has huge amount of experience in the second tier having played for Derby County at this level for several years, and with 79 caps for the Republic of Ireland, Hendrick is certainly someone who’s been about.
Alongside the likes of Barry Bannan, Wednesday now have a formidable and creative midfield pairing who could help springboard Wednesday off the bottom of the Championship table.
Against Yorkshire rivals Leeds United this weekend though, that’ll be difficult.
