One of Sheffield Wednesday’s 2019 targets looks set to join Nottingham Forest.
Both Wednesday and Forest were linked with moves for Scott McKenna throughout last summer’s window.
And the Owls did make an approach for the Aberdeen centre-back, according to their then interim manager Lee Bullen.
Bullen claimed however that Aberdeen did not want to sell McKenna, for whom the Dons were said to want £7 million.
But Nottingham Forest will pay less than half that amount – £3m – up front for the Scotland international, with a further £2m potentially due in add-ons, according to The Daily Record.
Wednesday have since signed the former Wigan Athletic centre-back Chey Dunkley on a free transfer and reintegrated the previously exiled Joost van Aken in McKenna’s position.

And, as things stand, the Owls are unlikely to look on enviously if Forest get McKenna through the door, as expected.
But, with McKenna’s past bidders reported to include Celtic, Queens Park Rangers, Swansea City and Stoke City, as well as Wednesday, Forest may be getting a good deal nonetheless.
