According to Football League World, Ipswich Town have joined Huddersfield Town in the race to sign Jordan Rhodes from Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer this summer.
Rhodes’ contract with the Owls expires in the summer.
The 31-year-old has been linked with both Cardiff City and Huddersfield, with the Terriers seemingly in pole position considering Rhodes’ previous ties with the club.
But FLW claim another of the striker’s former clubs Ipswich are rivalling them, with Tractor Boys manager Paul Cook looking to build a team capable of promotion next term.
Cook took charge of Ipswich last month following the dismissal of Paul Lambert.

The former Wigan Athletic manager ironically applied to become Wednesday’s manager in October, telling Talksport’s EFL show how he lost out to Tony Pulis.
Cook again spoke of his desire to become Owls boss in January, but owner Dejphon Chansiri ultimately went in a different direction and later hired Darren Moore.
Wednesday and Ipswich are likely to be opponents in League One next season.
The Owls are four points behind Derby County and safety with two games remaining, while Ipswich languish in midtable in League One despite their promotion aspirations.
Rhodes has been a prolific striker for much of his career. The Scot, however, has struggled for game-time at Hillsborough, yet still boasts seven goals from only 14 league starts this term.
The former Blackburn Rovers man will likely have ambitions to remain at Championship level, but Ipswich will seemingly try to convince him nonetheless with Cook a big factor.
