Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a late loan swoop for Leeds United midfielder Ian Poveda.
Sheffield Wednesday are plotting some late transfer deals as we enter the final hours of the winter transfer window.
The Owls have been beaten to a number of signings over the past few weeks with Duncan McGuire looking like the latest Wednesday target to join another team, with the striker set for a medical with Blackburn Rovers.
But Danny Rohl‘s side are said to be eyeing up a late loan move for Poveda who’s apparently been on their thinking for a number of weeks now.
And The Athletic’s Phil Hay has provided a fresh update on the Leeds United man, saying that he’s ‘most likely’ on his way out of the club, and that he has a ‘choice of clubs’ with Birmingham City also keen.

Poveda is a very exciting link.
The former Barcelona and Manchester City youth man held a lot of promise earlier in his career, and whilst he may not have fulfilled that potential with Leeds United, he remains a player with a potentially very bright future.
The 23-year-old Colombian international has shown definite signs of a very talented player at Elland Road. But he’s often been overlooked in the starting XI and injury has also hampered him in the last few years.
For Sheffield Wednesday though, a player like Poveda who can play as a no.10 or on either flank could be very useful, as the Owls only have Josh Windass to really play in that no.10 role, and he’s been quite hit and miss this season.
With Poveda looking likely to leave before 11pm, Sheffield Wednesday will have to make sure they put a good deal towards the player who is out of contract in the summer; and with Birmingham City having signed Alex Pritchard today, Poveda should be able to get more game time at Hillsborough.
This cold be a very exciting signing for the Owls.
