According to Football Insider, Sheffield Wednesday are lining up a deal for Ahmed Musa who is currently without a club following his exit from Al-Nassr.

The Nigeria international once cost Leicester City £16 million.

Aged 28, Musa should still have the condition to reach the top and Wednesday could pull off quite a coup if they manage to bring him to Hillsborough in January.

But the latest reports come after city-rivals Sheffield United were also linked.

According to TEAMtalk, Musa’s representatives are keen to secure a return to England for him and the Blades are among a few Premier League clubs offered his services.

It remains to be seen whether Chris Wilder’s side among others take up the proposal.

Wednesday’s bitter rivals could certainly use a boost in the final third as Sheffield United currently sit bottom of the Premier League table with just one point from nine games.

Scoring goals has been a huge problem for Chris Wilder’s side this season. Despite heavy spending in the summer, the Blades have netted just four times.

Musa’s best scoring run came during his successful stint at CSKA Moscow, scoring 23 goals in his final 59 league matches as he won three Russian league titles.

Wednesday have also been shy of goals this term, netting just seven times.

The Owls have struggled for creativity out wide, while the departure of Steven Fletcher in the summer has left a void upfront the club failed to fill during the summer.

Josh Windass is currently suspended, while loanee Jack Marriott has returned to Derby County after picking up a calf injury which could rule him out until next year.

Tony Pulis has already strongly suggested he will add to the Owls’ attack in January, and Musa could be an interesting proposition should he remain available.
