Sheffield Wednesday look like they could lose one or two key payers before the January transfer window slams shut on Thursday.
The Sheffield Wednesday first-team squad could see some drastic changes in the final days of this month’s transfer window.
There looks set to be some comings and goings at Hillsborough and on player who’s been quite heavily linked with a potential exit this month is Marvin Johnson.
The 33-year-old has enjoyed a resurgence under Danny Rohl; so much so that promotion-chasers Ipswich Town submitted a £1million bid for the left-back.
Wednesday rejected the offer, but transfer expert Graeme Bailey thinks that Johnson could still leave this month.

Speaking exclusively to Sheffield Wednesday News, Bailey explained that he thinks Johnson wants to move to Portman Road and potentially secure himself a place in the Premier League next season.
Bailey also predicted that there’s a ‘good chance’ that Johnson leaves Sheffield Wednesday this month, saying:
“I think he’d like to go, it’s hard to deny someone that [the possibility of playing in the Premier League]… I think that there’s a good chance it happens. I’m hearing a lot of different things, but I think there’s a very good chance. Sheffield Wednesday want his market value and I think that’s what they’re pushing, so let’s see happens.”
Danny Rohl could be poised for late transfer blow
Johnson leaving would certainly throw a spanner in the works for Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday.
He really compliments the attacking style of play that we’re seeing under Rohl, with Johnson’s driving runs and goal contributions really helping towards the upturn in form under the new boss.
But at 33 and likely being one of the many out of contract this summer, Johnson being sold makes financial sense for the Owls, especially if the fee exceeds £1million.
There needs to be a degree of planning for the future and if Johnson can be sold then it gives the club some funding; either for the final days of the window or for the summer transfer window later this year.
And like Bailey suggests, it’d be a great move for Johnson to join Ipswich and potentially push for promotion to the Premier League, in which Johnson has never played.
