Sheffield Wednesday now have a Championship midfielder on their transfer radar.
Deadline day is upon us and it promises to be a chaotic one for Sheffield Wednesday.
And boss Danny Rohl will be hoping that today’s chaos results in actual signings, with just two having arrived at Hillsborough in January; James Beadle and Ike Ugbo.
Now though, Football Insider have claimed that Cardiff City midfielder Andy Rinomhota is on the Owls‘ radar.
The same report says that Wednesday’s relegation rivals Huddersfield Town are also keen, along with Blackpool, Turkish outfit Goztepe, and French pair Amiens and Valenciennes.

Born in Leeds, the one-cap Zimbabwe international started his career in the non-leagues before joining the Reading academy in 2015.
Now 26 years old, the tenacious central midfielder made 139 total appearances for Reading and has 48 for Cardiff since joining in 2022; he’s made 167 total Championship appearances with three goals and nine assists.
But Rinomhota has featured just three times in the Championship this season.
Just what Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl need
Rohl’s want for a holding midfielder has been quite widely reported in this winter transfer window, and Rinomhota is just that.
Described as ‘outstanding’ by former Reading boss Paul Ince, Rinomhota is an energetic midfielder who will cover ground, keep play ticking over, and never back out of a 50/50 challenge.
He’s gained plenty of Championship experience for his age and he’s been unfortunate to fall out of favour this season.
But with a year-and-a-half left on his deal, it looks like he could seal a Championship switch, and he’d be a strong addition for the Owls; he’d obviously cost a fee but after Wednesday submitted bids for Duncan McGuire, it proves that Dejphon Chansiri is ready to spend some money.
Options are low in defensive midfield with Momo Diaby still working his way back to full fitness, so bolstering this position today seems to make sense.
But beating Huddersfield and several European clubs to the signing of Rinomhota won’t be easy.
