Sheffield Wednesday kicked off 2024 with a bang as they claimed back-to-back victories, including a 4-0 hammering of Cardiff City in the FA Cup.
The Owls look well on their way to winning their battle to stay in the Championship, now sitting only three points from safety.
Danny Rohl‘s side made their first signing of the January window yesterday, as they landed James Beadle on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The goalkeeper will hopefully be one of a number of arrivals who will hold the quality to improve Sheffield Wednesday‘s squad and help them climb up the table.
The January transfer window can really make or break a team’s season and Danny Rohl needs to get this one right.
Sheffield Wednesday have made plenty of January signings over the years – some a success and some not.
Here are their last 13 transfers over the previous five January windows…
2022-23
Aden Flint
Aden Flint arrived on loan from Stoke City in January 2023 for the second time, making 20 appearances that included the League One play-off semi-final ties against Peterborough United.

Upon his return to Stoke, the defender was released and went onto sign for League Two side Mansfield Town.
Flint has two goals and two assists in 25 appearances in the fourth tier, while he has ten clean sheets to his name as The Stags sit second in the table.
2021-22
Harlee Dean
The centre-back arrived on loan in January 2022, managing only nine appearances in League One.
Dean then returned to Birmingham City, before he was released and joined Reading in the summer.
The 32-year-old has managed only eight starts in the third tier this season and hasn’t featured for The Royals since November.
Jordan Storey
The 26-year-old made 21 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday, before returning to Preston North End where he is now a regular.
Storey has made 23 appearances in the Championship this term, with the Lilywhites sat in 14th place.
Tyreece John-Jules
The striker only managed one appearance for The Owls and has since struggled with injuries, but is currently hoping to redeem himself at Derby County.

John-Jules joined The Rams on loan in the summer and is currently in talks to extend his stay until the summer, despite only scoring twice.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing
Mendez-Laing is currently lighting up League One, having already scored six goals and provided seven assists in 25 appearances.
The winger reportedly attracted interest from Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and Hull, but he has now signed a new deal at Pride Park.
2020-21
Sam Hutchinson
After spending six years at Sheffield Wednesday, Hutchinson rejoined the club from Cypriot side Pafos in 2021.
The 34-year-old joined Reading the following year and has managed 12 appearances this season following their relegation from the Championship.
Andre Green
Despite a disappointing spell at Hillsborough, Green caught the eye after bagging 26 goals and seven assists in 81 appearances for Slovan Bratislava.

Green earned himself a move to Rotherham United in the summer, however he was ruled out for the rest of the season with an injury back in October.
2019-20
Connor Wickham
The striker has spent time with Preston, MK Dons and Cardiff City since leaving Sheffield Wednesday, but his only real success came with Forest Green Rovers. Wickham netted six goals in 16 games in League One.
The forward is now a free agent after leaving Cardiff.
Alessio Da Cruz
The Cape Verde international went on a further three loan spells from Parma, before joining Belgian club Mechelen.
Da Cruz has now signed for Serie B club Feralpisalo.
Josh Windass
The 30-year-old has 36 goals and 17 assists in 126 games since joining Sheffield Wednesday – including the all-important winner to earn them promotion to the Championship last year.
2018-19
Dominic Iorfa
Dominic Iorfa has been a regular fixture under Danny Rohl, making 15 appearances in the Championship this term.
Achraf Lazaar
The full-back joined Watford on a permanent deal in 2021 but only made a handful of appearances.

Lazaar went onto sign for Portimonense and Novara, before finding himself without a club since the summer.
Rolando Aarons
Aarons failed to ever live up to the expectations set upon him, enduring disappointing spells with Wycombe Wanderers, Motherwell and Huddersfield Town.
The 28-year-old was released by The Terriers at the end of last season and has only just found himself a new club with Slovenian league leaders NK Celje.
