Sheffield Wednesday’s rivals look set to sign their former January transfer target.
Sheffield Wednesday were desperate to bring in some attacking reinforcements back in January, with their five strikers finishing on eleven goals between them.
They eventually snapped up Ike Ugbo on loan from Troyes, who went onto net seven goals in 19 appearances.
He wasn’t the only forward they had tried to sign though, with Mika Biereth once striker who they have since reignited their interest in.
The Daily Mail also reported that they made a loan bid for West Ham’s Divin Mubama, who eventually stayed at the London Stadium for the rest of the campaign.

After making 12 appearances for the Irons’ senior team last term, Mubama went onto reject a new contract with the club and became a free agent at the weekend.
The ‘clever’ 19-year-old was a target of a number of clubs in the Championship and across Europe, though it is unclear whether Wednesday are still interested in his signature.
However, it now looks like one of their Championship rivals is leading the race to snap him up this summer.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Sunderland are in pole position to sign Mubama on a free transfer.
The teenager was highly-rated at West Ham, with the Premier League outfit keen to keep hold of him before he left in search of regular game-time.
Would Sheffield Wednesday reignite their interest in the striker?
Given his potential and lack of transfer fee, Mubama could have been a good acquisition for the Owls this summer.
He is unlikely to become a first choice in the Championship this term, but would have added some quality back-up and could have also allowed for some of the older players such as Michael Smith to leave Hillsborough.
Whether they are still looking at Mubama or not, Danny Rohl has definitely earned fans’ trust already this summer so there is no doubt that he will have a plan and a number of targets to spearhead his attack next season.
Though many of them are likely to cost money, so perhaps trying to hijack Sunderland’s deal wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.
Rohl has shown he is able to attract quality players such as Jamal Lowe and Yan Valery so far, so perhaps they would have an advantage if they were to enter negotiations.
