Sheffield Wednesday have now made three signings this summer, getting two over the line this week in Ashley Fletcher and Juan Delgado.

They join Reece James in signing for Sheffield Wednesday ahead of next season, but boss Xisco Munoz will know that he needs a fair few more in before the transfer window shuts on September 1st.

There’s been no shortage of players being linked with moves to Sheffield Wednesday and some names have been exciting ones, whilst others have gone on to join other clubs.

But here we look at three players who could realistically sign for the Owls in the coming weeks…

David Button

West Brom’s experienced goalkeeper David Button looks set to leave this summer. He’s fallen down the pecking order at The Hawthorns and reports emerged last week claiming that Reading were closing in on signing the 34-year-old, but those reports were played down.

And at the same time, Sheffield Wednsday were creditted with an interest in the shot-stopper. Sheffield Wednesday are in dire need of a new goalkeeper this summer and Button looks like a very plausible potential signing – especially so after the Owls saw Bailey Peacock-Farrell head to Denmark.

Earlier this week, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City were linked with a move for PSG’s Djeidi Gassama who looks set to leave the Parisian club after a tough year.

It looks like an ambitious link on the surface but Gassama is well out of favour at the club and out of contract in a year’s time – what’s more is that Hull City have since been ruled out of the race to sign the young attacker.

Munoz needs attacking reinforcements and Gassama could be one of his most exciting signings of the summer.

Pol Valentin

Of the three players on this list, Pol Valentin looks like the player most wanted by Sheffield Wednesday and Munoz this summer.

The Sporting Gijon player is under contract for another year but Munoz recently said that the club are working very hard on the potential signing of the full-back – an area in which the Owls are very depleted on.

Munoz had this to say on Valentin earlier this week:

“We are trying to take him as fast as possible. I don’t know if that is ready or not or whether we have that agreement. We are trying for everyone in our list to arrive faster.”

Valentin looks like the Owls’ next potential signing, though nothing is ever guaranteed with Sheffield Wednesday.
