One Sheffield Wednesday man is attracting transfer interest ahead of January.
Sheffield Wednesday look to be in store for a busy January with plenty of comings and goings on the cards.
Danny Rohl has spoken on multiple occasions about having a clear idea of what he wants in next month’s window, and the recent appointment of Kevin Beadell as Head of Recruitment suggests that the Owls are looking to do some business.
But there’s also a sense that several players could be moving on as well.
Rohl has recently suggested that he could look to move on some of those who aren’t playing regularly, and one such player is Lee Gregory.
The Star say that a ‘handful’ of Football League teams are keen on a potential swoop for the 35-year-old striker next month.
Since joining in 2021, Gregory has racked up 101 total appearances for Wednesday, scoring 29 goals along the play and proving to be a prolific player during the club’s two-year stay in League One.
This season however, Gregory has featured just 13 times in the Championship with one goal to his name, and having made just the one late substitute appearances in the last 11 for Sheffield Wednesday.
Former Owls boss Darren Moore was a huge admirer of Gregory, labelling him a ‘superb’ player.

After two-and-a-half years at Wednesday, with plenty of goals and a promotion too, now looks like the right time for Gregory to move on from Hillsborough and seek a new challenge.
He’d certainly leave as a well-liked player for his goals in League One; he scored 17 league goals in his first season and 11 in Wednesday’s promotion campaign, proving to be a prominent feature throughout both seasons.
And he looked like he could play a role for Sheffield Wednesday this season but the change in manager has seen him fall well out of favour.
Gregory is an old school striker who’ll score goals in and around the penalty area, but Rohl wants strikers who are more like attackers in the sense that they have overall play and can give the team a very high press.
Unfortunately for Gregory, he doesn’t seem to suit this style, and with his contract out at the end of the season, it makes sense for everyone that Gregory leaves the club next month.
But given his pedigree in the Football League, with 142 career goals to his name, he’ll no doubt have plenty of suitors.
A move to a top-end League Two club would be a really shrewd move for the club and it could see Gregory notch some goals in the second half of the campaign and potentially earn a second promotion in as many seasons.
Expect the teams interested in Gregory to be named in the coming weeks.
