Here are 12 players who have played for both Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town ahead of their meeting this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday will have played three of the Championship’s top six in their last seven games by the time they take on Ipswich, having already lost to Leicester City and Leeds United over the last month.

The Owls still sit only a single point from safety after failing to cause an upset against the Whites, while they face another tough challenge against their fellow promoted side this weekend.

The Tractor Boys earned a narrow 1-0 win when the two teams met in September, while both meetings ended 2-2 in League One last season. However, prior to this term, the Owls hadn’t lost to Ipswich since March 2018.

Ahead of a huge clash that could see one time climb out of the relegation zone, while the other could move up into the automatic promotion spot, we take a look at 12 players who have plied their trade with both clubs over the years.

Dominic Iorfa

Dominic Iorfa began his senior career with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but was eventually sent out on loan to Ipswich Town during the 2017-18 season.

The ‘fantastic’ defender made 23 appearances in the Championship and scored once, with Town finishing the season in 12th place.

After one more year with Wolves, Iorfa was then sold to Sheffield Wednesday in 2019. He has since made 156 appearances, was named the Player of the Year in his first campaign and has helped win promotion.

Jordan Rhodes

Jordan Rhodes joined Ipswich’s academy in 2005 and went onto make his debut two years later, before making only ten appearances, despite being named their Young Player of the Year in 2008.

Massimo Luongo joined Ipswich Town on loan from Tottenham Hotspur at the start of his career, making only a handful of appearances.

After a spell with QPR, he signed for Sheffield Wednesday in 2019 and made 73 appearances.

He went onto return to Portman Road in the summer and has made 34 appearances in the Championship.

Giles Coke

Giles Coke joined Sheffield Wednesday from Motherwell in 2010 and spent five years at Hillsborough, helping them win promotion to the Championship.

After loan spells with Bury, Swindon and Bolton, he joined Ipswich in 2015. He made only 10 league appearances before he was released two years later.

Stephen Bywater

Stephen Bywater joined Ipswich Town on loan from Derby in 2018, making 17 appearances in the second half of the campaign.

He went on loan to Hillsborough in 2011, before joining them permanently, making 32 appearances as they were promoted from League One.

Jack Marriott

Jack Marriott began his career with Ipswich Town and made his senior debut in 2013, though only played once before he was offloaded.

Fast forward seven years, the striker arrived at Sheffield Wednesday on loan. Injuries restricted his impact at the club and he managed only seven starts in the league.

David Johnson

David Johnson spent four years with Ipswich, helping them win the playoffs in 2000 and going onto score a total of 57 goals in 136 matches.

Daryl Murphy

Daryl Murphy joined the Owls on loan from Sunderland in 2005, but managed only a handful of appearances.

He then enjoyed three different loan spells at Ipswich, before joining permanently in 2013. He netted a total of 67 goals for the Tractor Boys.

Will Keane

Will Keane spent the second half of the 2014-15 campaign on loan with Sheffield Wednesday, netting three goals in 13 games.

He then had a brief loan spell at Portman Road, before joining them on a permanent deal in 2019. He only managed another three goals for them before he moved to Wigan Athletic.
