Sheffield Wednesday should explore Arsenal’s academy further after their pursuit of Mika Biereth.

Sheffield Wednesday tried to sign Mika Biereth in January, however he eventually went out on loan to Austrian club Sturm Graz.

After claiming 24 goal contributions this season, the Owls are now eager to snap him up at the second attempt.

However, Sturm Graz are in talks to bring him back to the club and can offer him Champions League football after he helped them win their first league title in 13 years.

Wednesday will surely continue with their pursuit of Biereth though, as could be a brilliant addition in their bid for a top half finish in the Championship.

Whether they succeed in signing Biereth or not, the Owls’ interest in Arsenal’s academy shouldn’t stop there.

The Gunners have a number of highly-rated talents among their youth ranks, desperately waiting to earn themselves regular game-time and make their mark in senior football.

One player who could be preparing for his first loan exit of his career is Ethan Nwaneri, and Sheffield Wednesday need to be at the front of the queue for his signature.

Who is Ethan Nwaneri?

The attacking midfielder joined Arsenal in 2016 and has been playing for the U21 side since he was just 15 years old.

Nwaneri was then called up to the first team and made his senior debut in 2022, becomign the youngest player to ever feature in the Premier League.

He then went onto rack up 18 goals and four assists in just 20 appearances for the U21s, as well as making a cameo appearance for the first team against West Ham in February.

Nwaneri signed his first professional contract in March, getting fans extremely excited for his future at the club.

The teenager has been likened to Jack Wilshere, while the likes of Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka have both heaped praise on the youngster.

Sheffield Wednesday need to be front of the queue for his signature

It was reported earlier this month that Arsenal could look to send Nwaneri out on loan, and he should be a name that the Owls are desperate to sign.

Wednesday’s midfield is really lacking in depth following a number of summer exits, while an attacking midfielder is one position that they certainly haven’t filled.

With Nwaneri able to play across the front three and in midfield, he could be an extremely smart signing for Danny Rohl‘s side.

There is no doubt that there will be a lot of competition though, but if they can get it across the line then he could be a real threat.
