Lee Bullen’s chances of being named the permanent Sheffield Wednesday manager took a slight hit at Millwall on Saturday.

But Bullen can reaffirm his position as the frontrunner for the job previously occupied by Steve Bruce when early strugglers Luton Town visit Hillsborough this evening.

With the games coming thick and fast now (a trip to Preston North End follows on Saturday) the Scot could make changes to his side, with Kieran Lee among those who in line to drop out.

Lee has started all three of Wednesday’s Championship fixtures this season, but he has yet to complete a single one.

And Bullen has vowed to manage the midfielder carefully over the course of the campaign, after he spent the best part of 18 months sidelined.

Resting Lee would most likely lead to a starting-XI return for Barry Bannan, who appeared as a second-half substitute at Millwall after a short absence.

Other candidates for a breather include Steven Fletcher and Sam Hutchinson, who have each struggled to play three times a week before now, with Jordan Rhodes and Massimo Luongo on stand-by.

Meanwhile, Moses Odubajo may return, in place of either Liam Palmer, Dominic Iorfa or even one of the wingers.

And several lesser-used players, such as Morgan Fox, David Bates, Joey Pelupessy, Fernando Forestieri and Atdhe Nuhiu, could also feature.

Here is how we suspect Sheffield Wednesday will look against Luton…
