Xisco Munoz has suggested Sheffield Wednesday could scour the free agent market this month, with the Owls lacking in certain areas.

One of those certain areas is in attack. Sheffield Wednesday look to be lacking a bit of star quality up front and many have been speculating as to who the Owls could move for, with former Luton Town, Brentford, and Burnley man Andre Gray doing the rounds on social media.

He’s said to have a number of suitors upon his release by Greek outfit Aris, so it could be a difficult pursuit for Wednesday to pull off.

With that in mind, here’s three free agent strikers the Owls could turn to…

Uche Ikpeazu

The big striker remains a free agent after leaving Turkish side Konyaspor in the summer.

He’s already been linked with Sheffield Wednesday this summer, though it looked like a move to former club Wycombe Wanderers was on the cards.

But it’s said that; whilst Wycombe remain keen on Ikpeazu, no deal is imminent, so he remains a free agent and a potential option for Munoz.

Chris Martin

Chris Martin was let go by QPR at the end of last season; much to the surprise of may QPR fans after Martin scored four in 16 Championship outings following his January arrival.

He too has been linked with a number of clubs throughout the summer but remains a free agent.

The 34-year-old has more than 450 Championship appearances to his name, with 114 goals and 56 assists, so he’s certainly a tried and tested name on the free agent market.

Lyle Taylor

Released by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season, Montserrat international Lyle Taylor remains a free agent.

He’s a proven goal-scorer in the Football League and in the Championship, having been prolific for teams like AFC Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic in the past.

He’s a powerful and robust striker who can play a number of roles in attack, but he’s another who might need time to regain match fitness.
