Reverberations from a reportedly imminent Leeds United transfer could be felt by Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace.
Two weeks since their 2-0 defeat at Elland Road, Leeds United could exact revenge – albeit inadvertently – on Sheffield Wednesday.
Both clubs are looking to strengthen up front, with Eddie Nketiah no longer a Leeds player and Steven Fletcher injured for Wednesday.
But until now neither side have had much luck.
Leeds have reportedly failed, repeatedly, in their attempts to land Che Adams on a loan-to-buy deal from Southampton, while the Owls’ alleged pursuit of a temporary agreement for Connor Wickham at Crystal Palace continues to drag.
On Friday, though, signs of a breakthrough emerged for Leeds.

According to L’Equipe, the RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin has decided to join the Whites on loan with a purchase option, cutting short a temporary spell at Monaco.

How does that affect Wednesday, you ask?
Well, the French publication claims that Wickham’s club, Crystal Palace, are one of three that Augustin – the £11m former Paris Saint-Germain prodigy – has rejected to join Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds.
Another new striker arriving in Croydon could have spelled bad news for Wickham – who is already vying with Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke and Cenk Tosun, the club’s new signing from Everton – and almost certainly pushed him closer to the exit.

Whether or not Crystal Palace will amend their apparent search for a new centre-forward remains to be seen.
But if Wednesday are indeed pursuing a deal for Wickham, their success could depend on another incoming at Selhurst Park.
