It is unclear how much cash Danny Rohl will have to spend, but Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping to bolster their squad to help them achieve a top half finish next season.
While Dejphon Chansiri is likely to fund the German coach’s transfer spree this summer, he will also be well aware of the benefit of surfing the free agent market.
Wednesday have already been linked with a return for Ian Poveda, who has been released by Leeds United. They are also set to sign Ben Hamer, who was let go by Watford this month.
It seems like their main focus has been on the Championship so far, but the Owls could certainly make some smart signings if they look to the top flight.

Jamal Lowe has only made a handful of appearances for Bournemouth since they were promoted, and instead spent the last two seasons on loan at QPR and Swansea City.
The forward picked up five goal contributions in 20 games for QPR, while he enjoyed much more success on this return to Wales.
Lowe netted nine goals and provided three assists last term, finishing as the Swans’ joint top goalscorer.
His superb form has attracted plenty of interest, with the likes of Millwall, Watford, Derby County and Portsmouth all in the race for his signature.
He could be a very good signing for Sheffield Wednesday, though it will be a tough pursuit to sign him.
Charlie Goode
Sheffield Wednesday are already eager to snap Charlie Goode up after he was released by Brentford.
The defender spent last season on loan in League One with Wigan Athletic and is now looking for a fresh start.
Goode could be a solid squad player for the Owls and is pretty much risk-free.
Jack Cork
Jack Cork has struggled for minutes at Burnley since they were promoted, but made 39 appearances when they dominated the Championship in 2022-23.
Clarets fans were left gutted when he was released, while it seems likely that he will be coming up against them in the Championship if he can earn himself a move.
While he is 34 years old, Cork could be a good player to bolster the midfield and also help out in the dressing room.
Nathan Ferguson
Nathan Ferguson was highly-rated when he burst onto the scene at West Brom, before earning himself a £900,000 switch to Crystal Palace.
The defender has since endured horrid luck with injuries though, having to wait 523 days before he could make his debut.
It proved to be his only appearance for the Eagles’ senior team, spending a majority of his four-year stint on the sidelines.
Ferguson is now available for free and is desperate to get his career back on track ahead of his 24th birthday.
While his injuries may continue, it could also be worth a punt given how much potential he had when he first moved to Selhurst Park.
Brandon Williams
Brandon Williams made 36 appearances for Manchester United during the 2019/20 season, including eight starts in the Europa League.
The defender’s career since went downhill though, being relegated with Norwich City before linking back up with Kieran McKenna at Ipswich Town.
Despite his relationship with the former United coach, Williams managed only eight starts as Ipswich were promoted to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old is now available for nothing and Danny Rohl could be the perfect man to reignite his career.
