Danny Rohl has so far had no major obstacles in the way of his summer transfer business.
Sheffield Wednesday have now snapped up seven players, and while Josh Windass’ future had initially looked bleak, they have managed to tie down several players to new contracts too.
They have so far managed to make additions to all four areas of the pitch, but are still awaiting one of the most important pieces of the puzzle – a striker.
The Owls snapped up Jamal Lowe last month but he is unlikely to be seen at as No.9, while they have continued to be linked with the likes of Ike Ugbo and Mika Biereth.
Wednesday have continued to monitor their January targets, with Duncan McGuire another name that remains on the shortlist.
Rohl’s side tried to sign McGuire from Orlando City earlier this year and while it had looked like they had missed out to Blackburn Rovers, that move eventually collapsed and he returned to the United States.

Rohl is still reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old, but recent news regarding the American could really frustrate the head coach.
The US named their squad for this summer’s Olympics at the weekend, with McGuire name one of the 18 players included.
The USMNT kick off their campaign in France on July 24, before the final will take place two weeks later on August 8.
If they reach the final then that could well mean that McGuire isn’t available for negotiations for another month, meaning if Wednesday were to sign him, he would miss the whole of pre-season and probably wouldn’t be around for their Championship opener.
Sheffield Wednesday can’t risk falling behind
The striker is clearly a favourite of Rohl, having picked up 24 goal contributions in 51 matches in the last two MLS seasons.
However, Wednesday definitely shouldn’t be waiting around until the campaign has already begun before they sign a goalscorer.
If they fail in their attempt or he ends up somewhere else, then the Owls will be so far behind in their hunt for a new No.9 and there will be very few options left.
The Yorkshire outfit have done brilliantly to bolster their squad and so far look on track to push further up the table, but they will find it extremely difficult to finish in the top half if they are relying on the likes of Bailey Cadamarteri or incoming attacker Charlie McNeill.
Wednesday were already forced to wait around to sign McGuire back in January and they shouldn’t make the same mistake again this summer.
