Journalist Joe Crann has questioned why Sheffield Wednesday are letting this one player leave before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.
It’s deadline day and Sheffield Wednesday look set to oversee some late deals; both incomings and outgoings.
For the Owls though, it seems like outgoings may be further along than any potential incomings, with midfielder George Byers looking like he could be on the move today.

It’s reported that Byers looks likely to leave before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline, with Blackpool and Barnsley both battling to sign the 27-year-old; right now though, Blackpool are leading the race.
It’s a move that will divide fans given Byers’ contributions last season, scoring six goals as the Owls sealed promotion, with fans warming to Byers.
He’s not had the best of seasons this time round with one goal and one assist in 22 Championship outings, but Crann believes that the Scot should be kept at Hillsborough for this survival push.

Danny Rohl will no doubt want all the quality he can get this month. But with a lack of incoming players, selling the likes of Byers doesn’t seem to make sense.
It might only make sense from a financial viewpoint and so it could be that this decision regarding Byers is coming from the hierarchy rather than Rohl.
And the Wednesday boss will be praying that his side can close a deal for a couple of players today; ideally a midfielder and a striker, and one midfielder in Andy Rinomhota has been linked with a move to S6 ahead of today.
For Byers, a move to Blackpool or Barnsley could be an exciting outcome. He shone in League One last season and like Crann says, he could well play a role at Sheffield Wednesday in the final six months of his deal, but it looks like the club want him off their books.
