Sheffield Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz has suggested that he’d welcome the chance to sign Anthony Musaba before the transfer window closes. A number of reports are claiming that the Owls are actually close to signing the tricky winger.

Now, the boss has been speaking to the press. Wednesday get their maiden campaign back in the Championship underway on Friday night when they face Southampton live on Sky Sports.

Hillsborough is sure to be rocking. A large number of the squad will be made up of last season’s promotion-winning team and Munoz is hopeful of adding some more players to his ranks.

Musaba looks like an attractive signing for Wednesday. He’s 22-years-old and is currently on the books with Monaco, although he’s way down the pecking order with the Ligue 1 giants.

His current club are keen to get him off the books. It was actually claimed earlier today in some reports that a deal involving Musaba was close; with Munoz remaining coy but praising the Dutchman.

He told The Star: “Anthony is one of the players on the list. He’s a very good player who is fast and good one-against-one, but we’ll see. We’ll see what happens today or tomorrow.”

Munoz would welcome Musaba at Wednesday this season

Musaba could represent a bit of a coup for Wednesday. If the reports are to be believed they’re about to tie down a player who could become a real star in the future.

Last season he was on loan with NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie. He scored four goals from 28 appearances but he will certainly benefit from the top-flight experience.

Musaba plays on either flank which could help Wednesday. Last season, he played most of his football on the right but he showcased that he also doesn’t mind playing on the left.

One thing that Wednesday will feel they lacked in the squad was proven wingers. Darren Moore instead utilised wing-backs and that saw the Owls short of options going forward on the flanks.

Now, Musaba could represent a clear change in strategy for Wednesday. Although he will arrive as an unknown quantity, it will be hoped that he can quickly showcase his quality.
