Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 4-2 defeat at Hull City in the Championship yesterday.

Sheffield Wednesday lost their second game of the 2023/24 Championship season yesterday. The Owls succumbed to a disappointing 4-2 defeat at the MKM Stadium despite taking the lead in the first half – Juan Delgado got off the mark for his new club.

But Xisco Munoz’s side played out a very poor game and left as deserved losers. They were out played and outgunned by Liam Rosenior’s Hull City, leaving many with grave concerns as we moved into the new Championship campaign.

And after the game, The Star’s Joe Crann had his say on the performance, tweeting:

Sheffield Wednesday have now lost both of their opening Championship fixtures, conceding a combined total of six goals to find themsleves in 22nd place of the table as things stand.

A desperate time for Sheffield Wednesday…

Like Crann points out, we’re still only two games into the new season, and with so many new names having arrived at the club, it’s inevitably going to take a bit of time for the squad to properly gel.

And then there’s the factor of having a new manager in place too, so for the Owls, things can, seemingly, only get better from here on.

But despite the circumstances, yesterday’s defeat and performance in general was very poor and it’s certainly going to ring some alarm bells as we move towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Up next for Sheffield Wednesday is a home game v Preston North End next weekend – more importantly though, Munoz has a full week to work with his players on the training ground.
