Sheffield Wednesday are locked in talks with manager Danny Rohl regarding a new contract for the impressive Owls boss.
Sheffield Wednesday have been in discussions with Danny Rohl since the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.
Owner Dejphon Chansiri is understandably eager to secure Rohl’s immediate and long-term future at Hillsborough, with talks apparently progressing positively.
It comes after Rohl guided the Owls to a 20th place finish in the 2023/24 Championship campaign, with interest from the likes of Hull City and Sunderland emerging.
The latest on Rohl’s contract is that he and Chansiri met in London to discuss further the possibility of a new contract, with those talks now thought to be nearing its conclusion.
But a new contract for Rohl will mean ‘adjustments’ to his current compensation package in S6.

It was recently revealed that any club wanting to poach Rohl from Sheffield Wednesday would need to cough up £5million.
And any club wanting to take Rohl and his backroom team at Wednesday would need to double that amount, and pay the Owls £10million in compensation.
Rohl’s current deal expires at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, but a new deal would mean ‘adjustments’ to his current compensation clause.
Speaking on Football Heaven, BBC journalist Rob Staton revealed: “Wednesday are trying to agree a long-term contract with their manager.”
Staton added: “If it is done, which would be good news for all concerned, this would include adjustments to compensation.”
Sheffield Wednesday need to strike a balance in Danny Rohl contract
£5milion for Rohl, or £10million for Rohl and his backroom team at Sheffield Wednesday, whilst a blow to lose all the staff or just Rohl, would give Chansiri a huge windfall.
And that money could be put to great use in potentially unearthing another Rohl and finding new names for the backroom team, as well as players in the transfer market.
Right now, it seems like that £5millioon fee has deterred teams from potentially taking a punt on Rohl this summer.
But if that figure is lowered significantly then the chances of clubs coming in and poaching Rohl from Sheffield Wednesday may increase greatly.
So Chansiri and the club need to strike a balance; extending Rohl’s contract is of course the main aim, but ensuring that the club doesn’t make it too easy for rival clubs to come in and snatch Rohl also needs to be in the thinking.
At the same time, Rohl may not commit his long-term future if he knows there’s a hefty compensation fee involved, and that he’s somewhat locked in at Hillsborough should things turn sour.
