It’s been a busy week for Sheffield Wednesday as they gear up for their return to the Championship.

After a two-year hiatus, Sheffield Wednesday are back in the second tier and fans are excited for what the summer transfer window holds.

And it looks like the Owls will be busy as reports of potential comings and goings start to circulate, with one rumour linking Darren Moore’s side with a move for Arsenal’s young full-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy.

The 19-year-old right-back spent time on loan at Coventry City last season, featuring heavily after joining on loan in January and even playing in the play-off final v Luton Town – The Star say that Wednesday are considering a move for the England U20 man.

Another name on Wednesday’s radar is a familiar one in Jordan Storey. The Preston North End defender spent time on loan at Hillsborough during the 2021/22 season and a return has been mentioned by Yorkshire Live, who say that Storey is one of the names on Moore’s summer wish list.

One name that is set to sign though is Sam Reed. The non-league left-back spent time on trial earlier in the year and this week, a report from The Star revealed that he’s set to join up with Neil Thompson’s U21 side ahead of the new season.

And in terms of outgoings, another report from The Star yesterday revealed that Owls striker and Wembley hero Josh Windass is a surprise target for Southampton. The Saints will be going up against Wednesday in the Championship next season, and inbound boss Russell Martin is said to be keen on signing Windass.

Lastly, forgotten Wednesday defender Ciaran Brennan has spoken out on his recovery from a dislocated shoulder. The 23-year-old sustained the injury during a positive loan spell with Swindon Town last season, and he’s told Yorkshire Live that he’s working his way back to fitness ahead of next season.

He said:

“It’s good and I’m getting there. I had the operation on the shoulder about seven or eight weeks ago. It’s coming along nicely.

“I’ve got four pins in my shoulder now. so it’s not a great healer and it’ll take a while but I’m just looking forward to getting back in for pre-season now. I’ve had a while away from football so I’m ready to get back at it as soon as I can.”

This summer certainly looks set to be a busy one for the Owls, and it needs to be if they’re going to be competitive in the second tier.
