Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-0 away at Plymouth Argyle in the Championship last night.
Sheffield Wednesday went into their second game under new boss Danny Rohl last night, making the long-haul journey down to the south coast to face Plymouth.
This was a League One fixture just last season. But now the pair are in the Championship and both went into this one in lowly league positions.
Though it was the Green Army who came out on top, eventually winning comfortably to keep Wednesday rooted to the foot of the Championship, and without a win in their opening 13 Championship fixtures.
Rohl made a couple more changes to the XI for last night’s game, with several players also missing from the match day squad entirely, including Callum Paterson, Michael Ihiekwe, Tyreeq Bakinson, and Ashley Fletcher.
And Joe Crann posted on X after the game to reveal why those four missed out, saying:
“Callum Paterson was missing due to injury tonight – but with Michael Ihiekwe, Tyreeq Bakinson and Ashley Fletcher it was purely a selection decision from Danny Röhl. Paterson could be back for Rotherham.”

Back stronger…
Sheffield Wednesday remain desperate for a win in the Championship, though when it’ll come, if ever, remains to be seen.
The Owls surely can’t go much longer without one, and their next game vs Rotherham United is surely their best chance of the seaosn so far to pick up tree points.
The Millers have been poor this season. They visit Hillsborough on Saturday for what is a huge game at the foot of the table, and Rohl will know the scale of this match.
But the German could have some fresh legs to deploy on Saturday after leaving some players on last night, with Paterson potentially able to play a part too, as per Crann.
It’s certainly a huge game and a win here would give the players and Rohl a huge boost in confidence.
